So You’re Looking for the Best Stamp Collecting Books

Finding the right books for your hobbies can be tough sometimes. Many books are outdated, and some are just plain wrong. We decided to look through some of the top selling stamp collecting books so that you don't have to. Shopping around for the correct book will save you a lot of time and money in the end, and you can save space in your house for more stamps. Because that's what your really after anyway.

If you are looking for an all around book that will introduce you or a loved one to stamp collecting, our recommendation goes out to "Guide to Stamp Collecting" by Janet Klug. A great gift for a grandson or niece would be some nice stamps and a copy of this book. Janet has an all-star record in the stamp collecting world. She writes regularly for stamp publications and is the vice-chairman of the Smithsonian Institution's National Postal Museum's Council of Philatelists. She goes through everything you need to know in the stamp world. How to find stamps. How to take care of them once you've got them. The tools that you'll need as a stamp collector. One excellent section of the book shows different myths about stamps, and about stamp collectors. She gives you the myth and then explains the truth and it is a really enlightening section. Another reason we loved this book is that, while it's a great introduction to stamps, it doesn't just dumb down the stamp world for kids. Many books fall into this trap. That is why "Guide to Stamp Collecting" is one of the best stamp collecting books.

Another great book is the in the "For Dummies" series. "Stamp Collecting For Dummies" This no-nonsense guide is another great tool on the road to becoming a real stamp collector. Something great about the "For Dummies" series is that all the books follow the same format. That way, if you've read one, you know how to read all of them. Something we loved about this book was the tone and the humor that the author used. Stamp Collecting is a fun and exciting hobby and this book reflects that more than other books do. It is clearly one of the best stamp collecting books.

There are many others out there. These are just some of our favorites. Don't spend too much money on books guys. Save some for your stamps!
