Canadian Stamps

Stamp collecting began when the first penny black was issued which depicted a a young Queen Victoria. Since it's issuance people have collected stamps. Many do it for sheer relaxation and then there are people who dedicate their lives to studying postal stamps. Canadian stamps are as important as the first penny black which can be purchased in used condition at the price of twenty to two hundred dollars.

There are many resources available for Canadian stamp collectors. These sources range from local collecting organizations, special interest groups and even national collectors' organizations such as The American Philatelic Society in the United States.

Local Clubs

Local Clubs can add a social aspect to stamp collecting and will give a novice the chance to meet experienced collectors. These clubs can be found by doing an area wide search on the internet or talking with your town hall to see if there are any clubs that are organized and if they aren't then you could even start one yourself.

Special Interest Groups

These groups focus mainly on one type of stamp typically and can help you understand the history of specific types of stamps and their importance to stamp collectors. These will be easier to find if you search the internet as well.

National Organizations

These organizations have updated websites that offer membership just by logging into a computer. This will sustain yourself as a determined collector if you are a member of such organizations.

Stamp collecting is a hobby that is relatively small in interest compared to baseball but this does not mean that there aren't people out there like you who want to learn more about their stamp collecting goals. The internet has made it easier for stamp collectors to ask and answer questions and even trade stamps. The internet does not place a geographical distance between collectors and with the web you can speak with more types of people.

There are also booths set up all over the world at fairs and celebrations that focus specifically on stamp collecting. At these booths you can learn about different types of stamps and the different people who collect these stamps. It is not at all hard to find resources that will help you with you collecting endeavors. You can even find websites online that focus only on producing and providing you with stamp collecting equipment. A person who spends a lot of time collecting may want these products to preserve their collections.
